Volunteers are the heartbeat of the Vision Resource Center, creating a safe, welcoming, and engaging space for our members by lending a hand at events, providing one-on-one support, or even sharing their voices through podcast readings and advocacy events.
When you volunteer, you don’t just give, you also gain meaningful relationships and experiences.
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Event Support
Set-up, registration, hospitality, tear-down.
One-on-one companions for activities or outings
Provide individualized guidance and support to members during various activities and trips.
Activity Leaders
Bring your skills and be a tutor for technology classes, arts & crafts, fitness, music, games, and others.
Administrative/office support
Prints distributions, mail distribution, phone cold calls.
Community outreach and awareness booths.
Help spread the word about the VRC's mission and programs at local events and venues.
Podcast Readers
Be part of the VRC-VLY podcast and help us recording books, articles, and news.
VOLUNTEERING WITH THE VRC IS SIMPLE!

Review our monthly calendar through our reminder emails or visit the VRC Calendar online. Once you find an activity you’d like to attend, follow Step 2.
2. Let us know where you’d like to help.
Contact our VRC Staff, and share the events or VRC-VLY days you would like to volunteer.

3. Wait for your confirmation.
Our Staff will confirm your volunteer assignment through the same method you used to contact her and provide everything you need to know for the activity. Volunteer needs vary by program. VRC programs require at least five participating VRC members to take place, and the number of volunteers needed depends on attendance, the type of activity, and the assistance required. Please wait for confirmation before considering your volunteer assignment finalized.
Need transportation? VRC may provide pickup transportation when requested at least 72 hours before the event, depending on seat availability. Volunteers are encouraged to use their own transportation whenever possible.
And while you’re volunteering, appetizers and water are on us!
UNIVERSITY & COLLEGE STUDENTS
If you are volunteering to fulfill service hours, course requirements, internships, or other college or university requirements, please register through your school’s volunteer or service-learning program office first and follow all procedures required by your school.
If permitted by your school’s procedures, you may provide VRC with the name, email address, and/or phone number of your school’s volunteer, service-learning, internship, or program contact, and VRC can report your completed volunteer hours directly to them. Your school or program office may also contact VRC to confirm your volunteer participation and hour-reporting requirements.
Please note that VRC can only provide verification that complies with your school’s established procedures. When requested, VRC can provide a Volunteer Certificate showing the total number of volunteer hours completed. VRC cannot guarantee that volunteer hours will be accepted by your school, college, university, or program.
Please let VRC know that you are completing required service hours before you begin volunteering so your hours can be properly tracked.

VOLUNTEERS UNDER 18
VRC welcomes volunteers ages 16 and older. Volunteers under the age of 18 must provide notarized written authorization from a parent or legal guardian before volunteering.
For the safety of our younger volunteers, individuals under 18 may only participate in approved volunteer opportunities during regular hours (9AM - 5PM). We are unable to accept underage volunteers for after-hours programs, or other activities designated for adult volunteers.
VRC welcomes volunteers ages 13 - 16 when accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
Contact VRC before signing up if you have questions about whether a particular opportunity is available to volunteers under 18.
