FACILITIES
The facilities at the Vision Resource Center include indoor social areas and acres of outdoor space with a walking trail adapted for people with visual impairments, picnic tables, a sensory garden, and planting garden boxes. It is a comfortable place to spend time, enjoy a change of environment, and connect with staff and fellow members.

OUR SPACE
VRC Members can enjoy comfortable social areas indoors, along with outdoor spaces that include an adapted walking trail for individuals with visual impairments, a sensory garden, and planting garden boxes. Picnic tables and shaded areas provide the perfect setting to gather with friends, share a meal, or simply enjoy the fresh air.
VRC Members are welcome to use the facilities Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
Visits can be walk-in or scheduled in advance. During their time at the Center, members may come on their own, bring a companion, or plan a group visit with other VRC members.
Staff will be available to provide support as needed, and transportation options can be arranged when scheduling a visit.
ADAPTED WALKING TRAIL
The Vision Resource Center features a specially designed walking trail for individuals who are blind or visually impaired, providing a safe and accessible outdoor space for exercise and relaxation. Officially opened with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on August 23, 2023, the trail is the first of its kind in the state, and was created in response to our members’ need for a place to walk independently and confidently.
The trail includes a rope lining, paved surfaces, and navigation markers to help users move safely. It was developed in collaboration with Fayetteville-Cumberland Parks & Recreation and supported by local organizations, reflecting the community’s commitment to inclusivity and accessibility.
