Thank you to all our sponsors and guests who joined us for the Vision Resource Center 7th Annual "Out of Sight Night at the Park" Event. YOU helped us to surpass our goal of $10,000 for the night. We will be able to help our kids with visually impairment ages birth to 13! Many blessings to each of you!

Many THANKS to the Guy Unger Band and DJ Q, for a night of great music and entertainment!

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) — Blind and visually impaired people in Cumberland County are struggling to access resources meant for them. The Vision Resource Center’s larger location allowed them to expand their services and help more people, but the property is half a mile away from a city bus stop.

The city of Fayetteville says they can’t expand the bus route onto county property, so the center is waiting on county leaders to apply for a transportation grant to drop members off right in front of the building - by: Kayla Strayer (CBS 17)

Artists at work. We enjoyed a morning at Cape Fear Botanical Gardens doing canvas paintings. Then on to Deep Creek Grill for lunch. Thank you to everyone who treated us so well!!!!

A Note From Our Executive Director, Terri Thomas

Terri Thomas, Executive Director

Thank you to our Board, Staff, OSD Committee, and ALL our AMAZING sponsors, with extra special thanks to our PREMIER sponsors, Fayetteville Woodpeckers, Systel, Cape Fear Eye Associates, Service Source, Eben Concepts, and Ramon Yarborough. We APPRECIATE every guest that turned out and made our 7th Annual Out of Sight Night at the Park a SUCCESS! We have a great start to serving kids and their families that have visual impairment ages birth to 13.

We have some exciting programming coming their way, and we could not have done it without each one of you!!! #thankyou #blessed #Segra #VRC #success

Many THANKS! to Mayor Colvin, City Council and all the County Commissioners for approving transportation to our new VRC facility. This deed goes beyond what the sighted can imagine. Thanks does not seem like enough. #loveisblind

Fall is here, and our calendar is hopping with some new activities that we can't wait to roll out. We are so proud of Thomas Bass, one of our VRC family members. Thomas is a senior at Fayetteville State University pursuing his BA in Social Work. Thomas has made history; he is the first blind student in the National Association of Blind Social workers. He is also the first blind student to be a Homecoming King candidate. Thomas is representing the National Association of Black Social in the photo for the Homecoming Coronation. Thomas aspires to be the first social worker at the VRC.

Wishing everyone a Happy October!!!

Until next time

With love and blessings,

Terri Thomas
