Be A Part of Our Family

This year, VRC programs impacted the lives of over 250 visually impaired individuals. How can YOU MAKE a DIFFERENCE?

Thanksgiving turkeys, Christmas trees, family time, and piles of presents. There is so much to be grateful for at this time of year. Our family members at the Vision Resource Center may not be able to see these symbols of the season with their eyes but the blessings are deeply felt. VRC had a wonderful year! We have been blessed with a new building, many new supporters, and a growing number of programs and participants. This year, VRC programs impacted the lives of over 250 individuals.

How does our work make a difference?

Advocacy. We knock down institutional barriers that have prevented blind and visually impaired (VI) people from fully participating as citizens in the community.

Health and Wellness. We help prevent isolation and feelings of depression among blind adults by getting them engaged in social and cultural events.

Independence. Our youth programs teach young people how to navigate their world with confidence. Their program is called Limitless because there are no limits to what they can achieve – even without sight.

Our plan for the New Year? Greater access to technology that makes everyday tasks easier for people with blindness and VI… a new program for the parents of 0 – 5 yrs. old… transforming the youth activities into a holistic youth development program… staff members will continue their efforts with gratitude and love because our lives have also been transformed by this work.

Vision Resource Center is a great investment. Please continue the generosity that makes this work possible. Your year-end contribution will help VRC expand and grow essential programs for adults and children with VI and blindness.

Thank you for partnering with us to make a difference for people with blindness and VI.

The VRC could use your help! We always need volunteers, so if you are looking for a way to give back to your community, try the VRC. A Note From Our Executive Director, Terri Thomas

Terri Thomas, Executive Director

As we wrap up 2019, I reflect on how far we have come and thank those Executive Directors, Board members, staff, and family members that have gone on, which helped us to achieve and develop all the things they started this organization 80 years ago.

It is exciting to continue the mission and grow the organization. We have some fantastic programs starting this upcoming year:

Playdates for kids with visual impairment birth to five years of age. Limitless group for our young adults' ages 19-29. Our youth development program will allow us to go the entire journey with our youth as they transition to adulthood, and we are overwhelmingly excited about this. Our adults will continue unique programs to help with their independence and socialization, so stay tuned.

We are so thankful for an incredible year and blessed with so many to support our new location, programs, and family members. We are so grateful for all of God's blessings as we continue to do the work to serve our blind community.

Wishing each of you Happy Holidays and a Blessed New Year 2020 from the Board, Staff and Members of the VRC.

Until next time

With love and blessings,

Terri Thomas
