The African Children's Choir concert used the power of music and dance to share traditional spirituals, storytelling and gospel favorites. Thanks to Family Fellowship Worship Center for being a gracious host!

Check out pages 31-32 our very own Thomas Bass, FSU student majoring in Social Work and VRC intern speaks on his "vision" Thanks Janet Leigh Gibson for bringing the story to light. #loveisblind#advocacy https://bit.ly/2VBGb6K

Happy International Women's Day! The International Women's Day date was moved to March 8 in 1913. The day aimed to help nations worldwide eliminate discrimination against women. It also focused on helping women gain full and equal participation in global development. International Men's Day is also celebrated on November 19 each year.

A Note From Our Executive Director, Terri Thomas

March...Springing forward... excitement blooming up everywhere!!!

Check out Cumberland Community Foundations' Giving catalog https://www.cumberlandcf.org/giving-together-catalog/give.html through March 31st. If you click "Donate Now," VRC is at the bottom of the list! What an AWESOME way to give back and support the blind.

Out of Sight, Wing Fling Cook-Off happening at Dirtbag Ale's new venue, same fun with some added twists and turns. Come out and support our 4th Annual. Calling all who have the skills to win BEST chicken wing by the people and by our judges!!! THAT Nation band will be on from 12-6 p.m. with DJ "Q" intertwining in and out, same night after the event Guy Unger will be singing under the stars as we celebrate a successful event.

1st ever Spring Break Camp for our youth ages 6-18, April 14-17th

Out of Sight Summer Camp Explosion will be a little different this year, but our kids have asked for it, and they are getting it... The program will run from May through August, with one intensive week of trips and bi-weekly camp days scattered throughout the other months.

The VRC is embarking upon our 20/20 vision with committees where you don't have to be a Board member to join in making the VRC even better!!! If you have interests in youth, facilities, fundraising, entrepreneurship, or developing partnerships in our community, VRC is for you. Many ask me how you can volunteer, and this would be a great way to make a difference with an organization where you can help advocate for those without sight. Get involved, make a difference and watch lives change...even yours

I just celebrated ten years with the VRC, and I cannot thank the VRC Board, our donors, and the community enough for the support. What a ride. Extra special thanks to Barbara Briggs, Cumberland Community Foundation, United Way, FRT, McLean Foundation, Ramon and Virginia Yarborough, and Cape Fear Eye Associates. All of you helped me at the start of my non-profit career to continue building something great ten years ago, and I will never forget that. #humble
